Investigation of Dead 15-Year-Old Girl Found in D4vd’s Tesla: What’s Going On?

Questions remain as the investigation continues.

Human remains were found in a towed Tesla registered to D4vd earlier this month, prompting a death investigation led by the Los Angeles Police Department.

In the days since, new details have emerged about the condition of the body and the identity of the deceased. D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, has continued his tour in support of Withered, his most recent album, but has since canceled it amid the investigation.

The LAPD confirmed new developments in the investigation into Celeste Rivas’ death. A body found in a Tesla registered to D4vd has been identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas. “On September 17, 2025, detectives from Robbery-Homicide Division served a search warrant on the 1300 block of Doheny Place in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez,” an LAPD rep told Complex. “Several items of evidence were recovered and will be analyzed by detectives in the coming days. This is an ongoing investigation. Investigators are following up on several leads.”

Below, we break down what’s known about the investigation so far. As previously reported, D4vd is “fully cooperating” with the authorities, and no suspects have been publicly named as of this writing.

Human remains found in towed Tesla registered to D4vd

“On 9/8/25 around 12:20 pm, officers responded to the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue for a foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard,” an LAPD rep previously told Complex. “Detectives responded and located possible human remains. It is currently a death investigation.”

While police didn't mention D4vd at the time, reports revealed the vehicle was registered to the Withered artist.

In an initial statement detailing what was then known about the body, which multiple reports have claimed was dismembered, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s officer revealed that a tattoo reading “Shhh” had been observed on the right index finger.

“The decedent was found severely decomposed inside a vehicle on 9/8/2025,” the medical examiner’s statement reads. “She appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found. We are unable to determine her age or race/ethnicity. The decedent was wearing a tube top and black leggings (size small). She has wavy black hair. Jewelry includes yellow metal stud earring and w yellow metal chain bracelet.”

Body identified, alleged victim was 15-year-old girl

Days later, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner listed Celeste Rivas, 15, with a date of death of Sept. 8. Per reports, including this one from TMZ, Rivas had been missing since last year. The publication also quoted the teen's mother as saying that her daughter had a boyfriend named David.

D4vd reportedly has “Shhh” tattoo similar to one found on body

Not long after it was revealed that a tattoo reading “Shhh” had been found on the body, it was reported by TMZ that D4vd has a similar tattoo. Like the one found on the deceased, his too is reportedly on his right index finger.

D4vd allegedly recorded a song called “Celeste"

On September 17, a song titled "Celeste" allegedly made by the singer surfaced online after the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the body found in the singer’s car as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas. There is no confirmation that the song is connected to the teenager.

D4vd tour dates reportedly canceled amid investigation

D4vd has reportedly canceled the remaining North American dates of his Withered World Tour, including stops in San Francisco and Los Angeles, amid an ongoing investigation into human remains found in a Tesla registered to him. The cancellations follow an earlier Seattle show being called off, though Ticketmaster has not yet updated the SF or LA listings.

D4vd removes bloody shirt merchandise from his website

Shortly after D4vd canceled his remaining tour dates and police opened an investigation into the death of Celeste Rivas, the singer pulled the button-down, blood-stained white shirt merch from his official website. The shirt was on sale for $35.

Kali Uchis says she's pulling "Crashing" with D4vd off streaming

Kali Uchis told a fan on Instagram who was claiming D4vd was the singer's friend that they were far from it and that their collaborative song "Crashing" was in the process of being removed. "Not my friend i did a song with him which is currently in the process of being taken down given today's disturbing news," Uchis wrote before responding to another fan who defended her. "its ok bb people like her are why women always get blamed for the things men do lol, the internalized misogyny of this world I suppose."

Celeste Rivas’ former teacher says she met D4vd on social media

A California teacher revealed to his class that Celeste Rivas, the teenage girl whose remains were found in a Tesla linked to D4vd, was his former student. In a TikTok video, he showed a photo of himself with Celeste in front of a classroom poster and noted that another student in a viral photo with D4vd was also his former student.

Photos of D4vd hanging out where the victim lives surface online

Multiple photos allegedly showing the 20-year-old in Lake Elsinore, California, are shared online. The location where D4vd was in the picture is reportedly .3 miles from the home where the 15-year-old lived with her family before disappearing in April 2024.

Detectives search rental home tied to D4vd, seize computer and evidence bags

LAPD homicide detectives searched a home that the singer was living in, which was rented by his manager, Josh Marshall. The search led detectives to seize a computer and several evidence bags. TMZ later reported that investigators leading the search were looking for any signs of blood that point to the possibility that Rivas was killed inside the home.

D4vd's casket props at his shows get renewed attention

Amid the investigation into Rivas' death, several online users have been exploring various footage from D4vd's recent shows where caskets were present. Others also witnessed what appeared to be a memorial for someone during his San Francisco show.

What has D4vd said about the investigation?

As of this writing, nothing. A recent statement attributed to a rep, as seen in this KNBC report, said the singer had “been informed” of the investigation.

“And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities,” the rep added.
