Police say a decomposing body was found in the front truck of an impounded Tesla in Hollywood. The car, per reports, is registered to Withered artist d4vd, who’s currently on a world tour that’s set to keep him on the road through November.
While official updates from local agencies remained scarce as of this writing, KABC reported that police were notified on Monday of a foul odor coming from the car at a tow yard in the Hollywood area. Inside the vehicle’s trunk, per the report, was a body wrapped in a bag. The identity of the deceased was not immediately known.
The report adds that the Tesla in question, said to be a 2023 model, is registered in Texas to d4vd. Meanwhile, a separate report from KTTV states the car was towed into the lot from Hollywood Hills last week after being reported abandoned.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) didn't immediately share a formal update on the investigation, and reports from the scene of the tow yard on Monday noted that officers declined to take questions.
LAPD Captain Robert Peters, however, did provide brief remarks to KNBC.
“We were notified this morning and the car’s been here for a couple days,” Peters said, as seen below.
When reached for comment by Complex on Tuesday, an LAPD rep offered the following: “On 9/8/25 around 12:20 pm, officers responded to the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue for a foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard. Detectives responded and located possible human remains. It is currently a death investigation.”
Complex has also reached out to reps for d4vd. This story may be updated.
D4vd kicked off his 2025 world tour with a performance in Del Mar in August, followed by additional stops that month including shows in Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, and elsewhere. Dates this month have thus far included Detroit, Columbus, Indianapolis, Chicago, and Madison. Tuesday, the recent Epic Games collaborator is slated to perform in Minneapolis before moving on to Kansas City.
The North American leg of the tour is scheduled to close in Los Angeles on Sept. 20.
