Detectives searched a rental home tied to D4vd as part of their investigation into the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas.
On Wednesday (Sept. 18), LAPD homicide detectives searched through a home rented by Josh Marshall, D4vd’s manager, according to TMZ. The 20-year-old singer (born David Anthony Burke) was reportedly living there according to photos and videos shared earlier this year that supposedly match the home’s interior.
These images include him singing with Benny Blanco during a livestream and dancing with the girl group Katseye.
During the search, detectives reportedly seized a computer and several evidence bags.
The investigation began earlier this month when a decomposed, dismembered body was discovered in the front truck of D4vd’s Tesla, which had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills and later towed to an impound lot.
The remains were later identified as Celeste Rivas, whose mother said she had a boyfriend named David and had been missing for over a year.
As previously reported, the “Romantic Homicide” singer had not been in Los Angeles for more than a month while he embarked on a concert tour for his Withered album. Authorities are also investigating who last drove the car and were reportedly seeking surveillance footage of the main road where the car was parked in addition to any alleyways the car might have driven through.
TMZ previously noted that both Celeste and D4vd have the same “Shhh…” tattoo on their right index finger.
D4vd was originally scheduled to perform on Wednesday night at the Showbox SoDo in Seattle. The show was cancelled just hours after Rivas was identified.
Following the show’s cancellation, a song titled “Celeste” surfaced online with lyrics like “I wanna make you suicidal” and “Oh, Celeste / Afraid you’ll only love me when undressed.” It’s unclear and unconfirmed that the track has any connection to D4vd.
Alleged photos of the singer in the area where Rivas once lived were also shared online. As examined by TMZ, the man in the photos appeared in Lake Elsinore, California, which is .3 miles, or a roughly six-minute walk, from the home where Rivas was living with her family before her disappearance in April 2024.
Singer Kali Uchis, who collaborated with D4vd on the song “Crashing,” said the track is “in the process of being taken down given today’s disturbing news.”
As of this writing, authorities have not named D4vd as a suspect in the case.
