An investigation into how, and why, a dead body was found in the trunk of a Tesla registered to d4vd, who’s currently out on the road as part of a world tour, continues.
The latest reports, including this one from Los Angeles-based outlet KABC, point to a recent public update from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. In it, the medical examiner detailed what’s known so far about the body found inside the vehicle’s trunk at a tow lot in the Hollywood area on Monday.
“The decedent was found severely decomposed inside a vehicle on 9/8/2025,” reads the medical examiner’s statement, seen here. “She appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found. We are unable to determine her age or race/ethnicity. The decedent was wearing a tube top and black leggings (size small). She has wavy black hair. Jewelry includes yellow metal stud earring and w yellow metal chain bracelet.”
Also noted by the medical examiner is a tattoo on the deceased’s right index finger reading “Shhh.”
When reached for comment by Complex on Wednesday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office noted the investigation remains in progress, adding that only limited information is available at the moment.
Complex has also reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department and d4vd’s reps for comment. This story may be updated.
In a previous statement, an LAPD rep confirmed that officers had responded to the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue on Monday after being informed of “a foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard.” Upon arrival, detectives found human remains.
“It is currently a death investigation,” an LAPD rep told Complex on Tuesday.
D4vd, to be clear, has been on the North American leg of his 2025 world tour since early August. Tuesday night, he performed in Minneapolis, as seen below. The next scheduled stop of his Withered-promoting run is set for Wednesday in Kansas City.
Tuesday, KNBC reported that d4vd was cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
"D4vd has been informed about what's happened. And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities," a rep for the artist was quoted as saying.
