BIA is again discussing her and Cardi B's thoroughly headlined issues, arguing that she’s “here for a bigger mission right now.”
In a new interview with The Breakfast Club, the Bianca artist refuted chatter of purported sex tape rumors being a part of the feud (“It has nothing to do with a sex tape”) and clarified that a Stefon Diggs-mentioning line on her “+44” track stems from “long before” the beef.
Speaking more generally about the beef itself, BIA explained to Charlamagne tha God and company that her aim at the moment is to not focus on it.
“This isn’t even about her,” she said. “This is really about real artists, like the artists that get up and go to the studio and care about the creative and do their work and have limited resources. I’m speaking for them. This is not even about her anymore. This is like, I’m anti-machine.”
BIA also reiterated past remarks she’s made about the nature of her issues with Cardi, as well as addressed whether fans can expect an outright response to Cardi’s recent diss track.
“I would be doing a disservice to myself with everything I’ve put into this album [by] making this about her,” BIA said on Monday’s episode. “I could just go and I could drop something at any time. That came a year ago. I dropped that record a year ago. I would be doing a disservice to myself, I’ll say that.”
BIA continued, “There’s so much more importance to my message and what I’m here for than to rap beef. I’ve been out for over 10 years and I’ve never gotten into a rap beef. That says a lot about me. I have great relationships in this business because I carry myself a certain way. Why would I ruin that? I can address it any time but I’m just here for a bigger mission right now.”
While BIA and Cardi B’s much-discussed issues date back to before the Am I the Drama? era, the back-and-forth between the two artists has undoubtedly quickened its pace in recent weeks. On the Drama track “Pretty & Petty,” as we reported back in September, Cardi extensively dissed BIA, including by opening the song’s first verse with “Name five BIA songs, gun pointin’ to your head/Bow, I’m dead.”
In a subsequent Hot 97 interview, BIA addressed the diss, as well as spoke about what she claims are the origins of her and Cardi’s issues. This too led to a response from Cardi, who later told fans during an X Spaces session that “Whole Lotta Money,” a BIA record, was first sent to her.
“You’re not interesting enough for me to look at you,” Cardi said at the time. “You’re not creative, your music is boring, everything about you is boring. I don’t care nothing about you.”
More recently, Cardi revealed that she held off on releasing an Instagram video for “Pretty & Petty” due to its would-be proximity to BIA’s Bianca album release. As Cardi saw it, dropping the video at that particular moment would have been equatable with “bullying.”
