Pete Davidson says learning that he and Elsie Hewitt were expecting their first child together made it obvious to him “what actually matters” moving forward.
The Saturday Night Live alum, who’s currently working on new standup material, has addressed his impending fatherhood multiple times on the press tour for James DeMonaco’s The Home, out this Friday. At the top of a new Tonight Show interview, for example, host Jimmy Fallon offered congratulations in light of the news.
“I did it!” Davidson said in response. “Anybody who knows me knows it’s my dream to be a dad, so I’m so excited. Elsie’s excited. I’m excited to see her be a mom. So, we’re stoked.”
Underscoring his excitement, Davidson pointed to a key part of the fatherhood journey thus far.
“Everything else doesn’t really matter anymore,” he said. “It’s nice.”
Davidson made similar remarks in a short conversation with Access Hollywood at this week’s The Home premiere, revealing that he considers himself “very lucky” to be on this journey alongside Hewitt.
“Now nothing else really matters, which is nice,” Davidson, whose 2025 slate also includes a heist comedy with Eddie Murphy, said. “All that matters is this little beautiful angel that we’re gonna raise together and I’m just so excited. You know, this is just a job. When we got the news, it was very apparent to me what actually matters.”
Last week, Hewitt confirmed her and Davidson’s first baby together via an Instagram update captioned “welp now everyone knows we had sex.” Naturally, that quote ended up in numerous headlines, including one for this very publication.
