New details are trickling in after a body was found in a towed Tesla in Hollywood.

In initial reports, including this one from regional outlet KABC, the car was said to be registered to d4vd in Texas. The Withered artist is currently on the road, with his ongoing world tour set to hit Minneapolis on Tuesday night.

TMZ, updating their previous coverage on the investigation, said on Tuesday that the body found in the vehicle’s trunk had been described by their law enforcement sources as “chopped up and heavily decomposed.” Additional information was not immediately shared.

Earlier on Tuesday, a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) rep confirmed limited details on the investigation to Complex. As of this writing, the identity of the deceased had not been publicly announced.

“On 9/8/25 around 12:20 pm, officers responded to the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue for a foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard,” a department rep said in an email to Complex. “Detectives responded and located possible human remains. It is currently a death investigation.”

A previous report from KTTV added that the car was believed to have been towed into the lot from the Hollywood Hills area last week after being reported as abandoned.

Complex has again reached out to LAPD reps for additional comment, as well as to reps for D4VD. This story may be updated.

For now, D4vd hasn’t publicly addressed the story. Over the weekend, his socials were updated to tease the release of a deluxe version of his Withered album featuring Julia Wolf and more, out Sept. 19. The “Feel It” artist has been on the road in support of the album since early August.
