A Taylor Swift–themed Halloween display in Hoboken, New Jersey, has gone viral for its hilariously shady tribute to the pop superstar’s exes.
The over-the-top setup features a spooky cemetery of custom gravestones emblazoned with the names of Swift’s most famous former flames, including John Mayer, Harry Styles, Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal, Matty Healy, and Joe Alwyn. It has racked up nearly 2.5 million views on TikTok. But while the display is earning laughs from Swifties around the world, it has also sparked plenty of debate over who didn’t make the cut.
“Love that Tom Hiddleston isn’t in the grave,” one fan commented, referring to Swift’s highly publicized 2016 fling with the British actor. Another wrote, “Hahaha Calvin Harris getting left out AGAIN!!! I love it!!” shading the Scottish DJ who dated Swift for more than a year.
Others called for the inclusion of Conor Kennedy, reminding viewers of Swift’s brief 2012 romance with the then-17-year-old member of the Kennedy family, a relationship that has recently resurfaced online.
But according to Tim Dwyer, the designer behind the decorations, there was a very practical explanation for the missing tombstones.
“There were so many that we didn’t want to spend $1,000 on these custom gravestones,” Dwyer told The New York Post. He said the Hoboken homeowners, who wish to remain anonymous, hired him to create a display that would go viral.
“His wife is a Swiftie,” Dwyer added. “They told me, ‘You have to think of something that’ll go big.’ So we did.”
At the top of the stoop sits a life-sized skeleton version of Taylor Swift herself, alongside a bony Travis Kelce, complete with a Kansas City Chiefs jersey and a bent knee, proposing to the hitmaker. But the shade doesn’t stop at ex-boyfriends. In one corner, a miniature jail cell holds a skeleton labeled Scooter Braun, a nod to Swift’s long-running feud with the music executive over ownership of her master recordings.
The internet-approved installation has also blown up on Instagram courtesy of Hoboken Weekend, where commenters weighed in with their own lyrical jokes. Others praised the creativity and the commitment to petty holiday spirit.
