Taylor Swift is expected to make history with her newest album.

According to Hits Daily Double, the fourteen-time Grammy winner's twelfth album, The Life of a Showgirl, which released on October 3, could earn over 3.5 album equivalent units in sales. That would pass Adele's 2015 album, 25, for the biggest sales week ever.

According to Billboard, Swift sold 2.7 million copies in just the first day of release, marking her biggest opening ever.

In streams, Showgirl crushed the Spotify and Apple Music charts, including Swift's new single "The Fate of Ophelia," breaking the single-day streaming record on Spotify. The recent Swift takeover was also composed of her new film The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, which debuted the "Ophelia" music video, behind-the-scenes footage from the visual, lyric visualizers and personal reflections. It dominated the box office this weekend, topping films starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Dwayne Johnson.

While Swift's 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department, debuted atop the Billboard 200, it crossed 2.6 million album-equivalent units in its first week, with 1.9 million copies being pure sales.

Since the release of Showgirl, Swift dropped acoustic renditions of select tracks from the album exclusively on her official website.
