James Harden has assured everyone that he's "in love" with his girlfriend, Paije Speights, one year after his hilarious reaction to her catching a wedding bouquet.
The LA Clippers point guard stars in the second season of Netflix sports docuseries Starting 5, and in a teaser from the show, he recounts the 2024 viral video of Speights catching a tossed wedding bouquet.
Harden was visibly shocked during the moment, but his girlfriend embraced him with a hug. The couple were attending Rajon Rondo's wedding to Latoia Rondo.
"I couldn't believe it," Harden said in the clip below, adding that he didn't know what the bouquet tradition means.
In a separate interview, Speights recalled joking that she would "run up to the front of the circle" so she could catch the bouquet and be next in the friend group to get married. But Harden protested, calling for his girlfriend to join him in the back.
"It was like a movie," Harden added before demonstrating how the bouquet flew in the air and landed in front of Speights. The basketball player also recreated his shocked expression.
"He called me his wife already," Speights said. "I think he made a joke one time. He said something, and I was like, 'Yeah, but you already got a girlfriend.' He's was like, 'You're my wife.' And I was like, 'Oh, okay.'"
Harden ended by saying that he loves Speights "a lot" and twice said that he's "in love" while looking into the camera.
As Sports Illustrated points out, the new season of Starting 5 will show Harden open up more about his personal life, like sharing that he has a now-6-year-old son.
