Cam'ron has weighed in on Cam Newton expressing that he wants to know his partner's sexual history.
The topic came up during Thursday's (October 16) episode of It Is What It Is, with guest Michael Irvin calling it "reasonable" for the retired NFL player to know his girlfriend's past.
Newton shares two children with his current girlfriend, actor and comedian Jasmin Brown, and revealed on his podcast this month that he requires a "list" of her previous sexual partners. Newton's justification was that he isn't insecure, but that he wanted to know just in case he's "close" to a person that his girlfriend slept with.
"You are not riding in coach. You are not dealing in baggage claim. Let me make sure that you had this perspective of yourself before I see you as this. So if you [were] coaching baggage claim n***as, let me know now," Irvin joked around the 52:00 mark of the video below.
After asking Irvin for more of his opinion on the matter, Cam'ron compared Newton's situation to the movies Meet the Parents and The Best Man, which dealt with similar awkward dating experiences.
"Imagine everybody at the dinner table knowing another n***a at the dinner table boned your fiancée and you the only n***a that don't know. That's where I'm at," Cam'ron explained. "If you tell me what's going on, we can work around it. But if you sit there and I'm the last n***a in the room to know, it's a dub. 'Cause you have me sitting here around everybody for I don't know how long looking stupid."
The rapper and sports podcaster added that the 'list' conversation depends on strong communication and added that Newton is "100 percent in his rights."
"Look, ladies, say it like this. If somebody asks you this, that means they like you and they willing to invest in you. And that's why those questions are asked," Cam explained. If he didn't give a fuck, he wouldn't give a fuck."
He continued: "So, don't feel offended. Feel privileged because it looks like he's willing to do more if he's asking those type of questions."
Newton said similarly on his recent visit to The Breakfast Club, where he shared that he's also given a list to Brown. "I just really want to know if you're willing to open up and answer the question because, like I said, it's a deeper rooted issue that, 'Hey, we in some real stuff. Tell me what you did,'" he said.
