WWE fans are paying tribute to Robert Lawrence Horne, better known as Sir Mo, who has died at 58.
According to Ringside News, the former WWE star had been dealing with pneumonia and a blood infection before passing away in Texas on Sunday, October 19.
News of his death was confirmed by wrestling veteran Leilani Kai, who remembered him as someone who “always smiled, joked around, and treated everyone with respect.”
Horne’s career began in the early 1990s as one half of the Harlem Knights, teaming with Nelson Frazier (later known as Mabel). Their size and chemistry earned attention, eventually leading to a WWF contract in 1993.
Repackaged as Men on a Mission, with rapper-manager Oscar, the duo became a colorful staple of the era. Known for their purple and gold gear and crowd-pumping entrances, Mo and Mabel quickly connected with fans.
Their biggest moment came overseas, when they briefly captured the WWF (as it was then known) Tag Team Championship during a U.K. tour.
When Mabel won the 1995 King of the Ring and was crowned King Mabel, Horne adopted the title of Sir Mo, acting as his tag partner’s royal sidekick.
Though the spotlight shifted toward Mabel’s singles run, Sir Mo remained a consistent figure, taking on stars like Owen Hart, The Smoking Gunns, and even standing ringside during Mabel’s feud with The Undertaker.
After leaving WWE in 1996, Horne returned to Memphis wrestling and later took part in the first incarnation of the Nation of Domination.
He spent the following years on the independent circuit, wrestling under different names and eventually creating his own promotions. By 2014, he had even come out of retirement for special appearances, including a reunion under the banner MOM2K in Canada.
Most recently, Horne and his wife, Denise Jones, ran SOAR Championship Wrestling in Dallas, where he stayed active as both a promoter and mentor.
