Roman Reigns’ run at WWE Clash in Paris looked like a textbook Tribal Chief performance: survive a slugfest, take back what’s his, and remind the crowd who runs the yard. But the night didn’t end with his hand raised — it ended with him being carried out on a stretcher.

According to WrestleZone (via Yahoo Sports), the opening bout saw Reigns go toe-to-toe with Bronson Reed in a bruising contest that mixed power shots with high stakes.

After reclaiming his signature sneakers in the process of sealing the win, Reigns turned his attention to Paul Heyman, locking his longtime adviser in a guillotine choke that left him unconscious.

The moment was short-lived. Bron Breakker speared Reigns straight through the commentary desk, and Reed crushed him repeatedly with his tsunami splash, leaving the arena in stunned silence.

WWE later issued a storyline update: Reigns was taken to a local hospital in Paris for scans and evaluation. Cathy Kelley confirmed the tests included an MRI and X-rays, with further word promised for RAW.

On paper, it’s a devastating development. In reality, it’s an open door.

The injury write-off is WWE’s way of freeing up Reigns for his next move: Hollywood. According to a Newsweek report from July, he’s been cast as Akuma in the upcoming Street Fighter live-action movie, stepping into one of gaming’s most feared villains.

His counterpart? None other than Cody Rhodes, who will trade in the Undisputed WWE Championship for Guile’s military fatigues.

The project, backed by Legendary, Sony, and Capcom, is stacking its roster like a dream card. Jason Momoa is set to bring Blanka to life, Andrew Koji will play Ryu, Callina Liang takes on Chun-Li, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is locked in as Balrog. David Dastmalchian rounds out the villain crew as M. Bison. Kitao Sakurai is directing, with a 2026 release date scheduled for what is sure to be a blockbuster film.
