Debo Williams has never been one to fold under pressure. The former South Carolina linebacker, a two-time captain, and First Team All-SEC honoree is used to proving people wrong.
Now, after going undrafted in the NFL, Williams is taking his competitive fire off the field and into the tech space with the launch of his mobile app, Spendher Hotline.
Raised in Smyrna, Delaware, Williams knew early what it meant to overcome the odds. “Being from a small town called Smyrna in a small state like Delaware and becoming a two-time captain at an SEC school meant the world to me,” Williams said, per Yahoo Finance. “So many people said I wouldn’t even be able to get on the field. With God, I was able to accomplish every goal I set for myself.”
Spendher Hotline is designed to connect people seeking advice with those willing to provide it, using private chats, exclusive content, and on-demand conversations. It’s built with both users and contributors in mind.
For customers, the app offers instant answers from real people. For advice givers, it’s a chance to set their own rates, share expertise, and keep full control over their workload and identity.
Williams explained the inspiration came from one of the most difficult moments in his life—going undrafted despite years of commitment to the game. “That type of pain gave me all the fire I needed,” he said. “I asked for that fire in a prayer, and God answered with this idea. It’s about impacting people’s lives positively.”
Unlike traditional hotlines or AI-driven platforms, Spendher Hotline focuses on real human connections. “When you think of hotlines, you think of emergencies. Spendher Hotline is for your everyday needs—like Google or Reddit, but with real people behind the answers,” Williams added.
The app also expands into lifestyle with Spendher Hotline Apparel, a fashion line created in collaboration with designer Izaiah Credel. Featuring men’s and women’s styles, the line showcases the rose logo that symbolizes resilience and growth.
Looking forward, Williams is ambitious. “In five years, I see Spendher Hotline as the number one app in the world,” he said. “If it helps even one person, I’ve done my job. But I believe it can reach millions, maybe billions.”
