Jeezy is at “peace” with ex Jeannie Mai after their divorce.
The rapper opened up about the status of their relationship after their volatile split during an interview with The Breakfast Club.
"I'm all about understanding. I'm all about what's best for everybody, the greater good," he said. "I don't want no enemies, I don't want no issues, I just want peace, I just want joy and I just want freedom. I love my freedom."
Jeezy’s peace comes a year after their split made headlines. In legal documents about their divorce shared last April, Mai accused Jeezy of child neglect and at least four instances of physical abuse.
“[Jeezy] has a history of threats, violence, and bodily harm,” reads the court filing. “[Mai] mistakenly believed [Jeezy] when he convinced her prior to their marriage that he was a changed man, and his past was in his past, but as one can see from the examples of abuse [Mai] endured during the marriage that has not turned out to be the case.”
Jeezy denied the allegations in a statement provided to Complex.
“The allegations are not only false, but also deeply disturbing, especially coming from someone I loved,” Jeezy wrote. “This malicious attempt to tarnish my character and disrupt my family is ridiculous. It’s disheartening to witness the manipulation and deceit at play, and at this time, my main concern is being an active father to our daughter as I continue to fight for court-mandated joint custody. Rest assured, the truth will prevail through the proper legal channels.”
Earlier this year, Mai spoke about motherhood as a single woman on the talk show Sherri. "Shoutout to all the moms out there, especially the single moms, because it's never what you picture," Mai said. "You don't ideally think to have a child and have that whole responsibility to yourself. But I realized that the gift in being a single mom is that you learn how to trust yourself."
