Jeannie Mai has made peace with motherhood as a single woman following her divorce from Jeezy.
The media personality, who shares a 3-year-old daughter Monaco with Jeezy, finalized her divorce from the rapper in 2024 after three years of marriage. The divorce was volatile, with Mai, 46, accusing Jeezy, 47, of domestic abuse, financial obstruction, and endangering their daughter.
On Monday, Mai appeared on talk show Sherri and opened up about moving forward as a single mother.
"Shoutout to all the moms out there, especially the single moms, because it's never what you picture," Mai said around the three-minute and 40-second mark of the video below. "You don't ideally think to have a child and have that whole responsibility to yourself. But I realized that the gift in being a single mom is that you learn how to trust yourself."
Mai added that mothers "know instinctively what to do" and don't have to "check with anybody else."
She continued, "You know exactly what your daughter needs in love; you know exactly how your children need to be seen and heard. And so I'm reparenting myself through Monaco and I'm learning that I always had it—I always had what I needed."
When asked about her dating life, Mai joked, "The streets scare me" and embraced living without a partner.
"Regardless if I do end up with somebody or not, I'm so happy that I have me," she added.
When host Sherri Shepard said that women have a sexual "tingle" they need taken care of, Mai suggested having "friends" that fulfill her needs.
In his divorce filing, Jeezy detailed that he and Mai had "no hope for reconciliation" and accused Mai of "nefarious actions." While Jeezy was previously unmarried and has three older children from former relationships, Mai was married to her first husband, Freddy Harteis, from 2007 to 2017.
