Fellow televisionary voices of taste, now’s our time to celebrate and/or bicker, as the 2025 Emmy nominations are upon us.
Tuesday, the latest nominees class was unveiled, bringing with it a blend of expected nods and genuine surprises alike. In the past, we’ve given you a straightforward rundown of nominees, as is tradition. But this time around, we’ve opted to go a different route.
Below, we break down what you need to know about the 2025 Emmy nominations.
Who got nominated for an Emmy in 2025?
Severance leads with 27 total nominations, followed by The Penguin (24) and The Studio (23). Other nominated series this year include Adolescence, Black Mirror, Monsters, Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, Paradise, What We Do in the Shadows, Andor, The Last of Us, The White Lotus, and more.
Among this year's nominated actors are Colin Farrell for The Penguin, Brian Tyree Henry for Dope Thief, Cooper Koch for Monsters, Cristin Milioti for The Penguin, Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary, Ayo Edebiri for The Bear, Jean Smart for Hacks, Seth Rogen for The Studio, Jeremy Allen White for The Bear, Sterling K. Brown for Paradise, Pedro Pascal for The Last of Us, Adam Scott for Severance, Britt Lower for Severance, Aimee Lou Wood for The White Lotus, Natasha Rothwell for The White Lotus, Parker Posey for The White Lotus, and Colman Domingo for The Four Seasons.
Nathan Fielder stands to win two Emmys, thanks to writing and directing nods for The Rehearsal’s second season. Squid Game’s second season, meanwhile, was hit with a shutout. And yes, Martin Scorsese is indeed in the running for an acting Emmy of his own thanks to his cameo in the Rogen-led Apple TV+ comedy The Studio.
Is Beyoncé nominated for an Emmy in 2025?
Netflix’s Beyoncé Bowl is up for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) against The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show Starring Kendrick Lamar, The Oscars, SNL50: The Anniversary Special, and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
Beyoncé Bowl, of course, saw the 35-time Grammy winner headlining the halftime show for the Ravens and Texans game in Houston last December. Post Malone, Shaboozey, Brittney Spencer, and more served as special guests for the performance, which served as a precursor, of sorts, for this year’s Cowboy Carter Tour.
This isn’t the first time Beyoncé’s work has bagged an Emmy nomination. A win this year, however, would mark her first in the Television Academy space. She could also emerge victorious in the Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special category this year.
Additionally, the special scored two additional nods for Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special and Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming.
When will this year's Emmy winners be revealed?
Winners will be announced at a ceremony set for the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept 14. Hosting the proceedings is Nashville’s own Nate Bargatze, who previously called the opportunity “a huge honor.” This year’s Creative Arts Emmy winners will be reveled on Sept. 6 and Sept .7.
