Tributes are flowing for beloved actress Diane Keaton as fans wonder how the late star died.

TMZ and People reported on October 11 that Keaton is dead. However, according to both of those sites, the cause of death is not yet clear. A few details are trickling out. “She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her," a friend told People, calling her death "unexpected."

"Diane Keaton has died at the age of 79. This one truly hurts," wrote a fan on X.

Tributes flowed for Keaton, who was known for her many films, including her roles in Annie Hall, The Godfather, and many other iconic movies.

Her death was unexpected, as it was not known to the public that Keaton was sick or having any health issues. She was only 79 years old. TMZ did not reveal any of the details of Keaton's death circumstances.

However, the site said that the fire department confirmed that a person was taken from Keaton's home in an ambulance just after 8 a.m. on October 11, and TMZ believes that person was Keaton.

Keaton was survived by her adopted kids, Dexter and Duke. She did not have a husband, although she spoke about her decision not to marry in several interviews.

People reported that Keaton died in California, and reported that a family spokesperson only said that her loved ones are requesting privacy.

Other fans also mourned Keaton in social media posts as news of her death spread. "I’m so sad about Diane’s passing. She was a genius actress and entertainer in so many wonderful roles. This truly hurts a lot," wrote one.

Other fans praised Keaton's filmography, including her iconic role in the Godfather films. Her acting abilities were widely praised, with many fans wondering how she died.

Diane Keaton was born Diane Hall on January 5, 1946 in Los Angeles, California., according to People.

"I always had one problem with my mom: She would cut my bangs way too short. I hated that. I look like an idiot. I like those glasses though. I could use them now," she told People in 2017.

Keaton was an Academy Award winner. "I keep it in my closet. I don't want to put it on display, it's silly! Enough already, Diane, we know," Keaton told People of the award.
