Kylie Jenner has stepped into her pop star era with the release of her first single, "Fourth Strike" — listen to it below.
This week, The Kardashians star reemerged as 'King Kylie,' based off her 2010s beauty phase, with the Terror Jr collaboration. "Fourth Strike" also signals the arrival of Jenner's new Kylie Cosmetics 'King Kylie' collection, which drops on Saturday (October 18).
Roughly 10 years ago, the mother-of-two dropped a heist-themed commercial titled "Glosses," which showed her singing along to Terror Jr song "3 Strikes," which brings "Fourth Strike" full circle.
After the reality television star and beauty entrepreneur dropped "Fourth Strike," she sat down with her friend, Carter Gregory, to discuss the song. "Well, you know, this is like my dream," Jenner said. "Carter, I've been talking about this since I came out of the womb. I like wanted to be a pop star." She added that she previously "never had the confidence" to pursue music.
"I think turning 28 just does something to you," she continued. I'm going to be 30 soon and I just don't want to look back on life and have any regrets and this is something I've always wanted to try. But, you know, I don't think I'm Adele or anything."
Gregory explained that two recording sessions were held to complete the song. The first was during a fun night out in an RV, while the second was done in the studio.
"I couldn't have felt more comfortable and more in the right hands," Jenner said. "I was really nervous, but after I think I heard the first line, I was like, 'Wow, I sound like an angel.' This is amazing."
Jenner explained that she revised portions of the initial recording but that it had overall been an "amazing learning process."
On the connection between "3 Strikes" and "Fourth Strike," Jenner shared that Colin Tilley was hired to direct her new music video, just as he did the "Glosses" ad.
The entrepreneur also teased the possibility of releasing more material. "I think it was so much fun that I don't want it to end. And I think why not? I think we should try. Let's make an album," she said. And if we're not feeling it, we'll just listen to it ourselves."
Jenner joins older sisters Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian Barker in releasing music. In 2011, Kim dropped her debut single, "Jam (Turn It Up)," and last Christmas, the socialite covered "Santa Baby." Barker and her husband, Travis Barker, were featured on Kris Jenner's 2023 "Jingle Bells" rendition.
