Selena Gomez wears many hats — singer, actress, beauty brand founder, and fiancée. And the prolific multihyphenate is allowing time to work in her favor.

In an interview for Allure published on Tuesday, September 9, the Only Murders in the Building star shared details about her relationship with music producer Benny Blanco.

Gomez and Blanco have collaborated many times over the course of their respective careers. Some of their earliest works together include Gomez’s 2015 singles “Same Old Love” and “Kill Em With Kindness” — on both of which, Blanco is credited as a producer. Though they have known each other for so long, they only began dating in 2023. The couple officially got engaged last December, which they both feel was right on time.

Gomez admitted that had she and Blanco gotten together any earlier, their relationship wouldn’t have worked out.

“I don't think I would have been remotely mature enough,” Gomez said. “It's weird to think that only five years ago I wouldn't have been in the right place, but I’ve learned so many lessons [since then] that led me to being the best partner I could be for Benny. And I believe the same with him.”

Gomez also noted that sometimes Blanco questions the timing of it all, but Gomez insists that it all panned out in the best way possible.

“He'll say, ‘Gosh, why did we waste so much time?’ And I always say, ‘You wouldn't have liked me back then.’ I was all over the place,” she said.

Back in March, Gomez and Blanco released a joint album called I Said I Love You First.

Fans can look forward to seeing Gomez in the current fifth season of Only Murders in the Building, which premiered Tuesday on Hulu.
