Marc Lamont Hill and Queenzflip got into a decidedly heated back-and-forth during a recent Patreon-exclusive podcast episode from the Joe Budden Network.
As seen in the four-minute clip below, the tension between the two was clearly growing by the second, prompting Budden himself to jokingly intervene early into the exchange to confirm that this moment would indeed be seen by the world.
“It’s going out,” Budden can be heard saying in the clip. “The second y’all wanna care about what people shouldn’t see, then shut up. This is going out. This is going right out. FedEx, too. UPS. Here’s the tracking link.”
While both Marc and Flip traded an “I love you” before the more heated points of their disagreement, that tone didn’t last long.
“Whatever you ever told me, you know ain’t never come out,” Marc said at one point. “And whatever ever happened that I witnessed, I ain’t never said shit about. I’m not gon’ say it because then that would be saying it. That’s all I’m gon’ say. Can’t nobody up here say nothing different.”
When Flip asked Marc to clarify “what secrets” he was referencing, Marc again declined.
“I’ll tell you off air,” Marc, who pointed out that what he’s referencing is “not about his personal life,” said. “I’m not even going to allude to it on air. Because I don’t move that way.”
From there, Flip argued that Marc had “said a lot of tricky words,” which was quickly disputed.
“No, I don’t,” Marc responded. “I say regular words and it’s tricky to you.”
Flip went on to give his assessment on what’s expected when it comes to their roles on the show, ultimately leading to a “sucker shit” callout that didn’t sit well with Marc.
“Even if you do win favors, you try to point out everything else that nobody do,” Flip said. “That’s sucker shit to me.”
Marc reacted by repeatedly telling Flip, “Don’t call me a sucker no more,” while Flip interjected multiple times to clarify that he wasn’t directly calling Marc a “sucker,” but was instead calling out “sucker shit” more generally.
Eventually, both Marc and Flip stood up, though the episode appeared to be back on track by the end of the clip.
“I’m not podding,” Marc said at one point. “Don’t fucking stand up. Are we talking or are we podding? We can talk outside or we can pod.”
It wasn’t immediately clear what set Marc and Flip’s initial back-and-forth into motion. For more, listen and watch on Budden’s Patreon page.
In an X update on Monday, Oct. 13, Flip shared some insight into what he says led up to his and Marc’s impassioned disagreement.
“Just to clear the air: I was never coming at the fans,” Flip wrote. “The whole mention of fans was just an example and not the main issue. The real convo was about BTS stuff that got lost in the noise. It all started from something Joe said earlier, about PAY.”
In a follow-up post, Flip said he simply “got caught up in the moment.”
This isn’t the first tense Budden podcast moment to hit headlines. Back in August, Emanny threw an object at Marc and caused him to spill his coffee, though all involved ultimately laughed it off.
