Akademiks and DJ Vlad opened up about their past and present issues with Marc Lamont Hill, culminating in a proposal for a direct debate involving him and Joe Budden.
On an episode of Off the Record, Akademiks said that he had a conversation with Hill where the latter "kind of toned the energy down" regarding earlier comments. According to Akademiks, Hill explained that he had said some things but didn't mean any of it, which ultimately "de-escalated" the tension between them, though Akademiks initially felt there was "real hatred there."
Vlad, however, shed light on a specific point of conflict involving Hill. According to Vlad, Hill seems to think that the DJ-turned-interviewer is the reason why Philadelphia rapper AR-Ab was sent to prison. Vlad dismissed this idea as "stupidity," stating that AR himself "said that I had nothing to do with anything that's happened to him."
Vlad further said that Hill retweeted a fake report that claimed a judge thanked him for helping get AR-Ab convicted, underscoring what Vlad sees as misinformation. However, Vlad stated he doesn't have a real problem with Hill.
That comment led to Akademiks appreciating Hill jumping into his and Vlad's world by becoming a full-time member of the Joe Budden Podcast. Akademiks then brought up how he, Vlad, Hill, and Budden should have a debate on a podcast.
"We should do this. Me, you, him, Joe Budden. A four-way podcast [...] Everybody's just shooting. Maybe a moderator, but a four-way podcast for real," said Ak. Vlad replied, "Let's do it [...] it has to be like on a neutral platform [...] it can't be chopped up. I'm down to do it."
Neither Hill nor Budden have yet responded to Ak and Vlad's comments.
