NBA YoungBoy's highly anticipated concert at Chicago's United Center this week was abruptly canceled less than two days before the rapper was set to perform.
The venue announced the cancellation on Monday, leaving fans scrambling for refunds. A United Center representative confirmed to Variety that tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded, while those purchased from third-party resellers should contact their point of purchase.
"Cancellation statement: The United Center has made the decision to cancel the NBA YoungBoy show scheduled for Wednesday, September 24 in Chicago. If you purchased through Ticketmaster, refunds will be issued automatically. If you purchased from a third-party reseller, please reach out to your point of purchase [...] No further comment at this time," said the United Center rep, per Variety.
Ticketmaster also notified fans that the event organizer had canceled the show. The Chicago performance, part of YoungBoy's "Make America Slime Again" tour to support his latest album, was scheduled to take place at the United Center and is part of a North American tour that ends in November.
Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster are eligible for automatic refunds, while those who bought tickets from third-party resellers are advised to contact their point of purchase.
The cancellation follows the United Center's implementation of a stricter bag policy for the event, which banned all bags, including clear ones, and encouraged attendees to travel light with only essentials like keys and wallets.
Representatives for YoungBoy and his label did not immediately respond to requests for comment. However, his manager expressed frustration on Instagram, claiming that the venue's senior VP of operations "didn't want us to have fun," while his agent called the decision "super disappointing" and clarified that the cancellation was the decision of the City of Chicago.
Clips from other stops of YoungBoy's tour have gone viral, such as one of a minor assaulting a security guard over the weekend at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. According to KCTV 5, the teenager was detained and two people, including the employee, were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
