J. Balvin has revealed he no longer speaks to Bad Bunny but says there is no bad blood between them.
In a conversation with El Pachá on El Vacilón de la Mañana, Balvin was asked what happened between him and Benito and whether fame had something to do with their split. The Oasis collaborators teamed up on various songs dating back to 2017, but fans have since speculated that something happened between them as they were seen hanging out less and less over the years.
According to Balvin, fame had nothing to do with them no longer speaking and attributed it to each side focusing on themselves.
"I think that everyone reaches a point where you have to focus on yourself," said Balvin. "Truthfully, I have nothing against Benito, one hundred percent."
He continued, "Truthfully, there was a very beautiful moment [between us]. We created the Oasis team, it was awesome. A very cool, historic album where a Colombian had never gotten together with a Puerto Rican [before]. I celebrate Benito’s success."
When asked if he still talks to Bunny, Balvin said there are "no motives" for them to talk, but reiterated that whenever they do see each other, it's always love. He closed out the topic of his relationship with Benito by praising his crew and wishing them well.
"Shout out to the whole crew, shout out to Noah Assad [Bad Bunny’s manager], shout out to Rimas [Bad Bunny’s label], shout out to Benito. They’re people we love very much," said Balvin.
Balvin and Benito began collaborating in 2017 and dropped a collaborative album in 2018 titled Oasis. They also had guest features on Cardi B’s diamond-certified “I Like It” which dropped that same year.
However, the two began hanging out less and less over the years, which made fans believe something had happened between them. Those rumors were fueled even more by the Puerto Rican singer’s track “THUNDER Y LIGHTNING,” where he rapped, “Ustedes me han visto con los mismo mientras ustedes son amigo de todo el mundo como Balvin.” (“You guys have seen me with the same people while you all are friends with the whole world like Balvin.”)
