Bruno Mars isn’t shying away from the memes based on his latest Instagram post.
Earlier this month, Mars and Lady Gaga unleashed “Die With a Smile,” a soft rock collaboration released ahead of Mother Monster’s upcoming seventh studio album.
The single also marks Mars’ first release since allegations emerged in March that the 38-year-old crooner had accrued $50 million in gambling debt with MGM Resorts.
The 15-time Grammy Award winner, who announced a multi-year concert residency with the hospitality giant’s Park MGM resort in Las Vegas in 2016, had reportedly racked up large debts at the poker tables.
In a statement provided to Complex, MGM Resorts International called the speculation “completely false” and clarified that he has “no debt with MGM.”
There hasn’t been a shortage of memes since fake reports made the rounds online. But now it seems as though the internet has jokes again in light of the new single.
While sharing fan art inspired by “Die With a Smile” to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, Mars also shared a video of a woman dancing to the new single in her living room with the caption, “Lady Gaga on her way to get Bruno Mars out of debt.”
The 24K Magic singer addressed the gambling debt rumors when speaking to the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s John Katsilometes in an interview published earlier this month.
“I love the lore that I am a Las Vegas lounge singer in debt to the mob. I can work with that,” Mars joked.
His new single with Gaga aside, Mars also told the newspaper that he is determined to “land the plane” with his ideas for Vegas, including the Pinky Ring cocktail lounge he created for the Bellagio Resort.
“If you look at the Pinky Ring, I’ve been working on that for years. A lot of things had to get shuffled around in order for that to happen,” Mars said. “I’ve got a lot of plans, especially in regards to Vegas, and I’m just getting started. That’s what I’ve got to say, OK? Just wait to see what I do next.”
