Lola Young is taking an indefinite break from performing.
Days after the “Messy” hitmaker collapsed during a performance at All Things Go festival in New York City, she took to her Instagram page to reveal to fans that she is canceling all of her upcoming performances for the time being.
“I'm going away for a while,” wrote the 24-year-old British pop star. “It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future.”
Though she didn’t go further into detail, Young expressed gratitude toward her fans and apologized to those who had purchased tickets.
“Thank you for all the love and support,” Young wrote. “I'm so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know. Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund.”
Young has been releasing music since 2019, but her 2024 hit single “Messy” catapulted her into viral fame. The song peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. Earlier this month, Young released her third studio album I'm Only F**king Myself.
Since launching into fame, Young has received much praise from artists like Tyler the Creator and Elton John. Though her music has garnered her a large fan base, it appears adjusting to fame has been a challenge for Young. Back in April, she vomited on stage during a performance at Coachella.
She closed her note, sharing that she is going to spend her hiatus healing, and later working on sharpening her performance skills.
“I really hope you'll give me a second chance once I've had some time to work on myself and come back stronger,” she said.
Since making the announcement, several artists have vocalized their support for Young — including Hayley Kiyoko, Tinashe, and Portugal. The Man.
