Travis Hunter received glowing praise from an airline passenger who “would have never guessed" he was a professional athlete. Sandy Hawkins Combs, a passenger on a United Airlines flight that was headed to Denver, posted a lengthy, and very positive, message on Facebook about the Jacksonville Jaguars’ recent draft pick, who turned out to be her seatmate.
“I met the nicest young man who sat next to me,” wrote Combs. “He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying ‘yes ma’a’m 'or ‘no ma’am.” Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson — so polite.”
Combs then explained how she found out who he was.
“People walking by were saying congratulations, great job, or even taking pictures,” she wrote. “I turned and asked him, ‘Who am I sitting next to?’ I looked at his Jaguar pants, smiled, and asked, ‘Are you an athlete?’ He smiled and said, ‘I’m Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags.’ I already told my sons I want his jersey.”
“He’s so humble and down-to-earth — I would have never guessed he was a professional athlete,” she added. “JACKSONVILLE JAGS, you did good! I will be buying tickets.”
Combs shared a picture with Hunter to complete her post full of praise.
Earlier this year, Hunter revealed on his eponymous YouTube show that he doesn’t take pictures with fans that often anymore.
"So I rarely take pictures now, 'cause you never know what they going to do with it," he explained. "You just asking for a picture as nicely as you can, and now you want to talk bad about me? Like, what are you talking about? People are weird, bro. People scare me, dawg. They scare me because you never know who got good intentions. ... It could always go left at any moment."
In the same episode, Hunter also let the world know that he’s not on social media because of the people who have bad things to say about him. "For y'all information, I'm still not on social media, so whatever y'all say... it don't matter," he said. "You cannot get in touch with Travis unless you text his phone. ... They be messing up for everybody, bro. All the haters is messing up for my supporters. But my supporters know I still love them. Everybody gotta suffer for all the hating."
