Cam Newton is ready for more kids— and he already has eight.
The former NFL player spoke to People about wanting as many children “that God gives me.”
"But jokingly, and not jokingly, they really give me my purpose and there’s so many different things that I look at to say, they’re my refuge,” said Newton. “They’re my peace. They’re my encouragement.”
“There’s times where, even I’m here and they’re still at home,” he continued. “Those type of things affect me but it also gives me more reason to say I’m doing this because of that situation.”
Newton shares three sons—Chosen Sebastian, Camidas Swain, and Cashmere Saint—and one daughter, Sovereign-Dior Cambella with his ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor. He also helps raise her older daughter, Shakira. Newton also has a son named Caesar with LaReina Shaw and helps raise her older son, Jaden.
Most recently, Newton and his current girlfriend, Jasmin Brown, welcomed their first child together, a baby girl last March.
Newton revealed on an episode of Special Forces this week that he’s dealing with “resentment” after he had a child outside of his relationship. "My dark side in my life was like I was in a long-term relationship and I had a child outside my relationship," Newton explained. "We had just moved into a house and everything was kind of perfect from the outside in, you know?"
"And my relationship with my oldest daughter has suffered. All she kept asking was, 'Yo, why?' " he added. Later on, he expressed that he’s dealing with that emotionally. “I'm still dealing with that resentment. So if I can heal that, then that's the star, he said."My daughter. We have our disconnects, but I just want my children to know that their dad cares, like I care.”
Back in January, Newton got honest about not having the same income his kids were used to after he left the NFL in 2021. "I'm going into a different phase of my life that's going to require a different form of myself," Newton said on a Special Forces episode. "Being in the NFL, everyone knows there's a large sum of money that comes to you in a short span of time and being away from the game for three years, those checks don't came in the same. Like, I got eight kids."
"It hurts me knowing that I can't provide like I once did,” Newton continued. “It hurts thinking that I'm Superman, but in reality, I'm just a man.”
