Anthony Edwards has been fined by the NBA for making a NSFW comment about his penis directed at a fan during a recent game in Los Angeles.
Per Shams Charania, Edwards has been hit with a $50,000 fine by the league for saying “my dick bigger than yours" during an exchange with a fan at Crypto.com Arena.
The exchange occurred during Game 1 of the Timberwolves' first round series against the Lakers. Edwards also heckled fans by bragging about how much money he makes.
Edwards nearly notched a triple-double against the Lakers, finishing with 22 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, and one steal.
In his post-game press conference, Edwards said wasn’t nervous playing on such a big stage. “I wasn’t out there for the half-court shot, but I mean [an] atmosphere like this, it’s easy for me,” he said. “I’ve played in Denver, man. Denver is [a] tough place to play in on the road. So, I mean it was nothing.”
Back in February, during an interview for our Complex cover story, Edwards revealed that he’s being more considerate about his language as he continues to accrue fines for what he says during and around NBA games.
“That’s my money being taken,” said Edwards. “I’m definitely thinking about it.”
At the time of our story, Edwards had accrued $285,000 worth of fines this season. He was given a $35,000 fine for flipping someone off during a game, $100,000 for saying “I don’t do overtime, so fuck it” in a live interview on television after a game, $75,000 for criticizing the officials, and another $25,000 for saying “fucking” and “bitch” during another postgame interview.
Elsewhere in the story, Edwards responded to criticism that NBA players receive from fans about shooting too many three-pointers. “What they want us to do? It’s four people in the paint,” he said. “If they leaving us open for the three ball, I think that’s just taking what the game give you.”
