Jimmy Butler Responds to Minnesota Fans Booing Him in Game 1: 'People Do Have to Watch Their Mouth'

Butler, who previously played for the Timberwolves, said the boos themselves don't "bother" him.

Jimmy Butler isn't letting the resounding boos that he's getting from Minnesota Timberwolves fans stop him from leading the Golden State Warriors in the second-round playoff matchup between the two teams.

During the postgame conference following Game 1, Butler was asked about the jeers he got from fans inside the Target Center in Minneapolis. Butler, who played in Minnesota in the 2017-2018 season, said the noise doesn't bother him, but noted that there is a limit to what fans can say to the players.

"That doesn't bother me, but people do have to watch their mouth. It's cool with the boos and all that stuff, but calling people out of their names and all of that stuff which I can hear," said Butler. "The boos I get it, I understand. Let's just keep it at that."

In his lone season in Minnesota, Butler helped lead the T'Wolves to a first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets, where they were eliminated in five games. Butler averaged 16 points, six rebounds, and four assists in that series.

Butler was booed whenever he touched the ball on Tuesday night as the Warriors defeated the T'Wolves 99-88 to go up one in the best-of-seven Western Conference series. Butler had 20 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists, while the game's leading scorer was his teammate Buddy Hield with 24 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

Game 2 will take place on Thursday night from the Target Center as Anthony Edwards and the T'Wolves will look for a way to protect home court and tie up the series before heading to Golden State for Games 3 and 4.
