Ric Flair took to X this week to address a circulating rumor regarding his health. This whispers seemingly began on Monday, May 5, when a fan questioned why Flair — born Richard Morgan Fliehr — was always photographed with “black eyes” or “random gashes on his head.” Flair’s son-in-law Conrad Thompson immediately responded to the user, suggesting the lesions were from a skin-cancer treatment.
“He had a skin cancer removed but go on,” Conrad wrote.
Several outlets quickly reported on the post, leading some to question if Flair was secretly battling the disease. Although the WWE Hall of Famer didn’t confirm a cancer diagnosis, he informed fans he was cancer-free.
“I’m Sorry People Have Been Misled By Social Media,” he wrote. “But I Don’t Have Cancer Of Any Kind. Thank You For Your Concerns And For Everyone Reaching Out. I Am Absolutely Fine, And Unfortunately, You’ll Have To Live And Put Up With Me For Another 25 Years!”
This isn’t the first time Flair’s health has made headlines. In 2017, the 76-year-old was placed in a medically induced coma after reportedly experiencing heart-related issues. He spoke about the health scare in a 2023 episode of This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von, saying he had suffered multiple organ failures.
“Well, when I almost died in ’17,” he told the host. “My intestine ruptured. I had sepsis, respiratory heart failure, total kidney failure, pneumonia… I was in a coma for 13 days.”
Years after the coma, Flair returned to the ring for one last time. The pay-per-view event, appropriately titled “Ric Flair’s Last Match,” saw the wrestling legend and his then son-in-law Andrade El Idolo take on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett in a tag-team match.
