Patriotism was running high after the United States men’s basketball team pulled off a dramatic late-game comeback to defeat Serbia on Thursday and advance to the Olympic gold medal game against France.

Following the game, Kevin Durant may have perfectly summed up what it means to represent the United States, warts and all.

"A lot of bullshit happens in our country," Durant said, as reported by Mike Finger of The San Antonio Express-News. "But a lot of great things happen, too."

The United States has accomplished many great things throughout the 2024 Olympics, securing 103 medals, as of this writing. China sits in second with 73. The U.S. also has more gold (30), silver (38) and bronze (35) medals than any other country.

The U.S. men’s basketball team will add one more to the medal count on Saturday. With a victory, Durant will receive a fourth Olympic gold medal and surpass Carmelo Anthony for the most all-time on the Team USA men’s basketball team.

According to NBC New York, KD would also become the first male athlete in Olympic history to win four gold medals in a team sport.

It has already been a memorable 2024 Summer Games for Durant, who became the all-time leading scorer in the Olympics for Team USA basketball against Brazil earlier this week.
