Draymond Green Dragged for Baseless Theory on Karl-Anthony Towns' Absence vs. Golden State Warriors

The New York Knicks star missed Tuesday's game against the Warriors due to personal reasons.

Draymond Green is facing backlash for throwing out a false theory regarding New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns' absence from Tuesday's game against the Golden State Warriors.

Green suggested on the latest episode of his podcast with Baron Davis that Towns missed the game because he was trying to avoid his former Minnesota Timberwolves teammate, Jimmy Butler.

"Some would say that he didn't play because Jimmy was in the building, I don't know," Green said. "I saw KAT's pops yesterday at the game and it's always love, I've got mad love for the OG. His pops is an incredible man. But yeah, they said KAT ain't playing because Jimmy came into town."

While you can see those comments in the post below, it appears that section was removed from the above episode, as evident by the hard jump cut at the 2:33 mark.

While some, such as Draymond, would say Towns did not play because of Butler, most would clarify that he needed to be the side of longtime partner Jordyn Woods, who was mourning the loss of her aunt to breast cancer.

"Thank you for all of your prayers and concern," Woods wrote on Instagram Stories Thursday. "I had to bury one of the closest people to me yesterday after she lost her battle to breast cancer. Life isn’t always fair. She will be missed tremendously."

In response to Davis questioning if Towns was hurt, Green said, "I don't know what was hurt. I didn't look that deep into it to figure out what his injury was."

If Draymond did the bare minimum amount of research, he would have found out that Towns was listed out due to personal reasons. Prior to Tuesday's game, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau told the media that he was not putting a timetable on KAT's return because "he needs some time right now."

Draymond mentioned he spoke with Towns' father, but did not ask him about his son's absence?

By recklessly creating a false conspiracy theory, Draymond has people, like Chris Broussard, running with it and crediting it back to him.

The Knicks play the Warriors in Golden State on Saturday, March 15.
