Papoose put hands on a comedian for intentionally mistaking his girlfriend, boxer Claressa Shields, for another female athlete.
Over the weekend, it was rumored that the rapper assaulted TikTok comedian Gerald Huston, who's popular for purposely calling celebrities and everyday people by the wrong name. But Huston had a tense run-in with Shields and Papoose, who punched the comedian in the nose for repeatedly calling the boxer Serena Williams.
Video from the aftermath showed Huston in the aftermath of the encounter, joking, "You play silly games, you win silly prizes."
Shields confirmed the incident on Instagram Live, recalling Papoose defending her.
"The guy walked up to me and he ain’t have a phone in his hand or nothing. And he was like ‘Oh my God, there goes Serena! Serena! Serena!'" she said in the clip below.
"And all of us who was around looked at him like 'Bro, what is you doing?'"
Shields admitted that she wasn't familiar with Huston but later found out that he's known for trolling. "I ain't got nothing against him," she said. "That's the type of content he do, I think he would've been better off if he just asked me before he came and cracked that joke like that, [then] it wouldn't have been so bad."
But while the Olympian tried to speak with other "heavy-hitters," like Rap-A-Lot Records founder J. Prince, Huston didn't stop following her.
"He keep stepping to me. Now this is where my man, my man, my man, Pap step to him like 'Aye bro, chill out,'" she continued. "'She said that’s not Serena, leave her alone.’ He stepped to Pap because this is what he do. He’s like 'Hell, I did it already.'"
Shields felt disrespected by the matter and even more shocked that Huston didn't back down from her boyfriend, although Papoose put a stop to the comedian's provocation. "Y’all already know what happened,” she concluded. "I don’t have to say nothing. Anybody that knows Pap knows what happened, but that’s all that happened."
Huston has a history of calling other stars by the wrong name, like dubbing Latto 'Cardi B' and Kevin Gates 'Lil Boosie.'
