It's that time of year again. If you’re a regular Complex Sports reader, you’re well aware of our annual tradition of ranking the NFL teams’ Twitter accounts from best to worst.

Social media has become a significant part of a franchise's identity whether you believe it or not. While it's used as a marketing tool and another avenue for monetization for some, it's a way for fans to connect with the teams they love. For our yearly list, we only focus on Twitter as that has been the main avenue for fans to connect with their teams in real time.

We are well aware that many teams have different approaches and goals to Twitter. Some franchises demand a buttoned-up tone while others are free to create how they please. Our judgement of accounts is based off fun, creativity, engagement, and ability to stay in the conversation. It's not based off how good the team is but we'll acknowledge that winning teams may have an advantage for the engagement aspect. We counted tweets from the beginning of the 2022 season, excluding training camp, up until today.

The Los Angeles Chargers are looking to become three-time champs of our Twitter rankings. They've taken home the No. 1 spot in 2019 and 2022 while finishing second in 2020.

Our list was curated off feedback from experts in the industry. With all that being said, here are our all 32 NFL Twitter accounts ranked.

32.Green Bay Packers

2022 Rank: 24

Followers: 2.5 million

The Packers Twitter account has never really been creative but things may become a bit more difficult with Aaron Rodgers gone.

31.Houston Texans

2022 Rank: 32

Followers: 1.9 million

The Texans are no longer dead last in the NFL for our Twitter rankings. With CJ Stroud and Will Anderson joining, there will be more opportunities to move up the chain here.

🔥 Tweet:

30.Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2022 Rank: 21

Followers: 1.2 million

The Buccaneers are in a weird window now with Tom Brady gone. That was the backbone of their run the past few years. We'll see how it affects the Twitter content.

🔥 Tweet:

29.Miami Dolphins

2022 Rank: 26

Followers: 1.2 million

The Miami Dolphins have one of the most exciting teams in the game. We need more on Twitter.

🔥 Tweet:

28.Arizona Cardinals

2022 Rank: 6

Followers: 1.1 million

The Cardinals haven't had much to be excited for of late and unfortunately things may not be getting any better but we do love us a good random letters tweet in excitement.

🔥 Tweet:

27.Indianapolis Colts

2022 Rank: 22

Followers: 1.2 million

The Colts have been through a lot of turmoil of late but hopefully things can change with Anthony Richardson as the foundation of the future. The Colts have been consistent around the 20s in recent rankings so maybe a new era can change that.

🔥 Tweet:

26.Los Angeles Rams

2022 Rank: 10

Followers: 1.2 million

The Rams were No. 1 on our 2020 rankings and they've dipped a bit since. You can partly contribute that to the team completely falling off in terms of performance and losing their big names to injury or free agency.

🔥 Tweet:

25.Carolina Panthers

2022 Rank: 2

Followers: 3 million

We know it's surprising to see the Panthers this low but last year was a quiet year for them on Twitter. They've historically dominated creativity on Twitter but there wasn't much of the past year. With Bryce Young in town now we're sure things will change.

🔥 Tweet:

24.Dallas Cowboys

2022 Rank: 27

Followers: 4.3 million

The Cowboys are in the same group as the Yankees and Lakers. Their social media will pop regardless of the content but we need a bit more from Dallas.

🔥 Tweet:

23.New England Patriots

2022 Rank: 20

Followers: 4.6 million

You can't expect much from a historic franchise like the Patriots. They're known for being all business 24/7 but it's cool to see their Twitter voice step outside of that Patriots stereotype.

🔥 Tweet:

22.Las Vegas Raiders

2022 Rank: 11

Followers: 1.9 million

The Raiders had one of the most incredible wins of the year last season but it didn't feel like the team took advantage of the moment on Twitter beyond the highlight and their typical cadence. Those moments are opportunities to go off.

🔥 Tweet:

21.San Francisco 49ers

2022 Rank: 3

Followers: 2.3 million

This seems like a steep drop for a team that was No. 3 last year but the 49ers really didn't flash the creativity they've shown in the past. With characters like Deebo and Kittle in addition to a superstar like CMC, we expected more from the 49ers on Twitter.

🔥 Tweet:

20.Denver Broncos

2022 Rank: 19

Followers: 2.7 million

The Broncos had a disappointing year last season especially with Russell Wilson but the social media team wasn't afraid to play to their struggles as show in the tweet below.

🔥 Tweet:

19.Atlanta Falcons

2022 Rank: 7

Followers: 2.4 million

The Falcons' drop here may have more to do with the competition getting better but they're still solid. Their biggest blemish this season was the Rotimi hype video.

🔥 Tweet:

18.Tennessee Titans

2022 Rank: 17

Followers: 1 million

The Tennessee Titans, without a doubt, won schedule release day with their creative video interviewing random people and asking them to name random logos. The video garnered almost 30 million impressions on Twitter and this alone raises them on the list.

🔥 Tweet:

17.Baltimore Ravens

2022 Rank: 9

Followers: 1.8 million

The uncertainty of Lamar Jackson's return to Baltimore likely made it a bit more difficult for the social team but with Odell and Lamar on board now, we expect the Ravens to make the jump on Twitter next season.

🔥 Tweet:

16.New Orleans Saints

2022 Rank: 13

Followers: 1.7 million

The Saints might be the best in the NFL at trolling their rivals especially when it's the Falcons. It can be a random Tuesday in July and the Saints will go at the Falcons ruthlessly. That's what Twitter is about.

🔥 Tweet:

15.Minnesota Vikings

2022 Rank: 29

Followers: 1.5 million

Ironically, the fire tweet attached below backfired on the Vikings but at the time, it was clever and creative. That's the kind of stuff we love to see.

🔥 Tweet:

14.Detroit Lions

2022 Rank: 30

Followers: 1.5 million

A lot of the teams that found themselves at the bottom of 2022's last took a leap in 2023. The Lions injected some life into the voice and it paid off.

🔥 Tweet:

13.Washington Commanders

2022 Rank: 12

Followers: 1.4 million

The Commanders are another team that has been consistent when it comes to Twitter. They pick their spots when to attack and they'll usually connect.

🔥 Tweet:

12.Cincinnati Bengals

2022 Rank: 5

Followers: 1.4 million

The Bengals know how to market their star. Yes, anything about Joe Burrow is probably easy engagement but they know how to be creative and play off their household name.

🔥 Tweet:

11.Seattle Seahawks

2022 Rank: 15

Followers: 2.5 million

The Seahawks surprised many folks sneaking into the playoffs last season and they might be just as underrated on Twitter, jumping four spots from last year.

🔥 Tweet:

10.Kansas City Chiefs

2022 Rank: 8

Followers: 2.3 million

The Chiefs have consistently been among the top 10 when it comes to Twitter. It helps when they make deep playoff runs consistently and have one of the greatest talents the game has ever seen but regardless of that, the Chiefs keep their fun tone consistent.

🔥 Tweet:

9.Chicago Bears

2022 Rank: 31

Followers: 2 million

We were harsh on the Bears social team in 2022 but they came back with a terrific season. We can't fail to acknowledge their fire schedule release with the 'The Bear' reference. They were cooking all year.

🔥 Tweet:

8.Philadelphia Eagles

2022 Rank: 28

Followers: 3.7 million

The Eagles have returned to the top tier of this list after dropping to 28 last season. If there's one fanbase not to try, it's Eagles fan and the Twitter account embodied that same mindset as well this year.

🔥 Tweet:

7.Pittsburgh Steelers

2022 Rank: 4

Followers: 3.7 million

The AFC North knows how to tweet and they love trolling each other. The Steelers' biggest tweets of the season came at the expense of the Bengals.

🔥 Tweet:

6.Cleveland Browns

2022 Rank: 23

Followers: 1.5 million

There are quite a few risers on this list and the Cleveland Browns are one of them. Whether it's trolling rivals after wins or trolling them after helmet releases, the Browns have had their share of fun on Twitter.

🔥 Tweet:

5.Jacksonville Jaguars

2022 Rank: 17

Followers: 829K

DUUUVAL! The Jaguars may not have the following as some of the top teams but they certainly know how to resonate with their own audience. They're not afraid to take jabs at opponents or step outside the box with clapping back.

🔥 Tweet:

4.New York Giants

2022 Rank: 25

Followers: 1.9 million

One of the most improved teams of 2023 were the New York Football Giants, jumping 21 spots in the rankings. They went from a quiet account to arguably the most savage account in the NFL. They kept receipts all season and win after win, they'd unleash clapbacks to every team or media member. Their rollout after eliminating the Vikings was a masterclass of trolling.

🔥 Tweet:

3.Buffalo Bills

2022 Rank: 14

Followers: 1.7 million

Kudos to the Buffalo Bills social team for how they handled the Damar Hamlin coverage but that wasn't factored into their top five ranking here. The Bills were witty and fun all season and came prepared after every victory.

🔥 Tweet:

2.New York Jets

2022 Rank: 18

Followers: 1.3 million

Shout out to the New York social teams. They've taken their game to the next level. The Jets had a strong case for the No. 1 spot this season and with Aaron Rodgers' arrival, they could end up being No. 1 next year. The Jets don't any opportunities to be creative and jump in the conversation.

🔥 Tweet:

1.Los Angeles Chargers

2022 Rank: 1

Followers: 1 million

If it ain't broke, then don't fix it. The Chargers are once again the Complex Sports NFL Twitter Champions. You can call it a dynasty at this point. No one matches their creativity and fun tone. They keep up with pop culture trends and integrate trending topics into their content. Win or lose, the Twitter account will be entertaining.
