Rampage Jackson’s son, Raja, placed another professional wrestler in the hospital.
A viral video showed Raja brutally attacking Syko Stu at a private wrestling event at KnokX Pro Academy over the weekend. The incident saw Raja body-slam Syko and punch him over 20 times while he was already on the ground.
Earlier reports revealed Stu’s prognosis wasn't very good, but now, according to his brother, Andrew Smith, Stu's condition has improved.
“Stuart is conscious and does have some recollection of events from the day of the attack,” Andrew wrote on Facebook. “Thank you everyone for reaching out, it’s been difficult to get back to everyone individually.”
Andrew added, “He’s currently resting and says, ‘Thank you for the love and support.’”
Rampage issued a statement regarding the incident, saying that his "main concern" is that Stu gets better. Rampage explained that Raja was "unexpectedly hit in the side of the head" by Stu prior to the show, and Raja was later told he could get "'payback' in the ring."
“Raja is a MMA fighter not a pro wrestler and had no business involved in an event like this," Rampage added. "I don’t condone my son’s actions AT ALL! He suffered a concussion from sparring only days ago and had no business doing anything remotely close to physical contact. As a father, im deeply concerned with his health AND the well being of Mr. Smith."
According to the New York Post, Stu and Raja got into an altercation outside the event’s venue, where Stu smashed a beer on Raja’s head, apparently thinking he was introducing the storyline for the show. A livestream showed the pair apologizing.
Raja hasn’t yet commented on the incident. The LAPD has now launched an investigation into the matter.
