The Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford fight was packed with celebrities and former boxing greats—and while most were cheered by the crowd, Stephen A. Smith was resoundingly booed.
During various breaks in the September 13 boxing card, cameras went around the crowd to show off some of the notable names in attendance. Dave Chappelle, Mike Tyson and Julio César Chávez got some of the biggest pops from the crowd as they smiled to the cameras.
Sofia Vergara also received a warm welcome, but the crowd immediately turned when Smith was shown on the big screen after Vergara.
The ESPN analyst stood up from his seat to acknowledge the camera, but was met by heavy boos. He seemed to take it in stride though, smiling and waving to the fans despite the not-so-warm welcome.
Among some of the other celebs and athletes in attendance were Charlie Sheen, Lizzo, Charlize Theron, Mark Wahlberg, Dana White, Mr. Beast, Josh Duhamel, Jonathan Majors, Wilmer Valderama, Evander Holyfield, Tony Hinchcliffe and David Spade.
At one point, Logan Paul was also shown on the big screen and greeted by a shower of boos.
The main event between Crawford and Alvarez went all 12 rounds, with Crawford taking home the win by unanimous decision.
The fight was broadcast live on Netflix from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and broke an attendance record for the venue with over 70,000 people watching it in person.
After the fight, Carawford said, "This is definitely a signature win. Moving up two weight classes, being the B-side, fighting a guy that’s been undefeated in the division, undisputed, taking all his titles, doing everything that I said I was going to do. Of course this means a lot.”
He continued, "He was 1,000% prepared. I just think I was the better man today.”
