Hulk Hogan's loss continues to be felt across the wrestling world, and fans were given the chance to salute their hero on Monday, July 28.
WWE's Monday Night Raw opened with a touching tribute to the legend, with the show's roster gathered to honor Hogan. Chief content officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque took the mic, saying, "We lost one of the biggest and most globally recognized icons in the world."
Levesque continued, "The truth is, he captivated millions of people and inspired them around the globe. We would not be standing here right now, all of us together, if it was not for him."
Hogan then received a 10-bell salute as the arena went silent and WWE superstars including CM Punk and Jey Uso looked on. Hogan's son, Nick Hogan, was also on stage during the salute.
After the bell tolled, a video montage of Hulk's life and career was played. The montage featured moments with André the Giant, Sylvester Stallone, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. It also highlighted the eras of Hulk's career with the WWE, including his time as a member of NWO.
Nick and others on stage appeared emotional after the video played.
Hulk died on July 24 after paramedics were called to his home in Clearwater, Florida. TMZ reported emergency operators stated the call came in for "cardiac arrest" and a video online appeared to show first responders doing chest compressions as Hulk was taken out of his home on a stretcher.
Clearwater Police said there were "no signs of foul play or suspicious activity" in relation to Hulk's death.
While it's currently unclear exactly what led to the 71-year-old's death, he had recently undergone a procedure on his neck, and there were reports a few weeks ago that he was in really bad shape. However, Hulk's wife denied those reports, saying he was simply recovering from the surgery.
