Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez is facing serious legal trouble following his arrest in Indianapolis earlier this month.

Authorities say the 38-year-old, now a Fox Sports analyst, was hospitalized and later booked into jail after an alleged stabbing incident that unfolded downtown on October 4.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Sanchez was involved in an altercation with 69-year-old truck driver Perry Tole in an alley. Both men sustained significant injuries and required hospitalization.

Police emphasized that detectives believe the confrontation was “an isolated incident between the two men and not a random act of violence.”

Sanchez has since been charged with one felony—battery resulting in serious bodily injury—along with three misdemeanors: battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication that endangers the life of another.

While the arrest came as a shock to some fans, one person close to Sanchez says she was not surprised.

According to People, Erin Campaneris, known professionally as model Bobby T, has an eight-year-old son named Daniel with the former Jets quarterback.

In a statement posted to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, October 12, Campaneris addressed the news directly.

“I am aware of the serious criminal charges currently facing my son's father, Mark Sanchez,” she wrote. “My foremost priority has always been, and remains, our eight-year-old son, Daniel. I chose to remain silent publicly to protect Daniel.”

She continued, noting that the charges did not come as a surprise to her: “Now that everything is out in the open, my focus hasn't changed. I have always been concerned for [Daniel’s] safety and for what he is exposed to. Sadly, none of this is surprising to me.”

Campaneris also revealed she learned of the incident the same way much of the public did—through breaking news alerts. “Like everyone else, I learned of the horrific event through a news alert on my phone while sitting next to Daniel. I still know only what is publicly available," she continued. "My thoughts and empathy are with the victim and everyone affected by this devastating event.”

She concluded her statement by emphasizing her hope for her son’s future: “I understand that we live in a very public world, but my hope is that as my son grows, he can be seen and understood apart from this story. At the end of the day, I'm simply a mama to a very sweet young boy doing my best to protect his peace. Thank you for the compassion so many have shown toward Daniel and me.”
