A former Ohio State football captain is facing serious charges after an incident at a Columbus gas station allegedly turned violent.

Jordan Hall, 34, who played running back for the Buckeyes from 2009 to 2013, was arrested in the early morning hours on Saturday, September 20, after police say he attacked a passenger from another vehicle.

According to the Columbus Division of Police (via The New York Post), officers responded to an assault call around 1:20 a.m. and found the victim lying unconscious with severe head injuries. The individual was rushed to Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center in critical condition.

Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators reportedly shows Hall dragging the victim out of a car “forcibly” before striking them repeatedly in the face.

The video also appears to capture Hall leaving the scene in his car—only to stop, return, and hit the victim again as they struggled to get back on their feet.

At one point, police say the victim’s head hit the pavement, causing them to go completely still. Due to the gravity of the injuries, homicide detectives were called in to assist with the case.

Hall was charged with felonious assault and booked into Franklin County Jail, where his mugshot—showing a wide grin—quickly circulated online. He is scheduled to appear in court later today.

Hall’s arrest is a sharp contrast to his football past. Once considered a versatile weapon in Ohio State’s offense, he became the team captain during the 2012 season before injuries limited his playing time. His highlight moments included a 159-yard rushing game during his redshirt season, but despite early promise, he never broke into the NFL.

Off the field, Hall graduated with a degree in finance and later moved into business, working for a management company in building maintenance while also launching a small real estate firm. On his LinkedIn, Hall described ambitions of building “one of the largest real estate portfolios in the Midwest.”
