Complex and Fanatics have partnered for a new series that explores the world of trading cards with some of the biggest names in pop culture.
The debut episode of the Joe La Puma-hosted series, which follows his work on the popular Sneaker Shopping, features none other than NFL legend Tom Brady. The former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback joined La Puma at Card Vault in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where they spoke about collecting trading cards and Brady showed his appreciation for other sports icons such as Michael Jordan.
"The only thing I ever collected was trading cards," said Brady when reflecting on his youth. "They were always kind of rewards for good grades, and I hate to say this on camera... But, I wasn't the best student growing up." Brady also showed how long he's been collecting trading cards by sharing a look at his binder, mostly consisting of baseball cards.
“The trading card market has experienced significant growth in recent years, emerging as a major segment within the broader collectibles industry,” a press release announcing the show notes. “According to research by Verified Market Reports, the global sports trading card market alone is currently valued at approximately $10 billion and projected to more than double, reaching over $20 billion by 2030. As demand continues to surge, the market is evolving from a niche hobby into a dynamic and lucrative investment landscape.”
