Shannon Sharpe is proudly behind the times.
In an episode of his Nightcap podcast with Chad Ochocinco and special guest J.R. Smith last month, Sharpe revealed that he has an aversion to apps and doesn't even have an email address of his own. A clip of his comments circulated on social media this week, and a lot of people in the comments called his approach to technology outdated. He has since responded and again questioned the usefulness of apps.
"Unc this not a flex," one comment read, to which Sharpe replied, "That's why you think I don't have email, ride share or cash apps?" When someone wrote that he needs to "get with the new age," Sharpe responded with, "Nah, I'm good." He was also told he's "never too old to learn," to which he asked, "What's the benefit?"
"I'm done with computers, last time I tried to do something about it, I effed that up," Sharpe said originally, making it clear that he has an aversion to technology, especially after his infamous Instagram Live sex stream. "I ain't got nothing. I ain't got no Uber Eats, no DoorDash. I got no Uber, I ain't go no ride share. I ain't got nothing, I ain't got no Venmo. I ain't got no email. Call me."
Sharpe added that he once had an email set up for him, but he would just get told what the important emails said by other people, so he never bothered opening it himself.
"My girlfriend that I was with the longest, when she left, she shut down everything," he said. "'Cause everything was on her computer and she had all the passcodes, I didn't know nothing."
Earlier this year, Sharpe accidentally went live on Instagram in the middle of a steamy encounter. While nothing was seen in the stream, Sharpe and a woman only identified as "Michelle" could be heard engaging in the nasty. So maybe it's a good idea Sharpe isn't on any apps, after all.
