Paul Pierce has broken his silence on his recent arrest, after the former Boston Celtics star was found “asleep at the wheel” in his car.

On Tuesday (October 7), the NBA Hall of Famer was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, after he was reportedly found by the California Highway Patrol asleep behind the wheel of his Range Rover in the middle of 101 Freeway traffic. In a post shared on his Threads account, Pierce addressed his arrest alongside a picture taken from his car.

"Imagine being stuck in stand still traffic for 45 mins and falling asleep 🤦🏾‍♂️ I took this picture that night because I never been in stand still traffic for this long," wrote Pierce. "I’m old, I’m tired, and I fell asleep 🤷🏾‍♂️ I’m good y’all thanks for the love."

As reported earlier this week, Pierce was found asleep in his car after he was stuck in traffic because of a multi-vehicle crash. "When officers approached, they found the driver, later identified as Paul Pierce, asleep at the wheel," the CHP said in a statement. "Officers noted signs of alcohol impairment and conducted a DUI investigation."

The 47-year-old was cited and released from custody, and the case is expected to head to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office for review. His post on Threads is his first time addressing the arrest.

In other Paul Pierce news, the former basketball star recently stated that he believes he was "probably the best pure scorer" in NBA History.

Making the statement on FS1’s Speak in response to LeBron James recently praising Kevin Durant as the "most equipped" scorer in the NBA, Pierce made sure to mention that he won the 2010 Three-Point Contest, in addition to checking off every other box.
