During a recent episode of Glory Daze with Johnny Manziel, former Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. revealed what Nikola Jokić texted him when he found out about the Brooklyn Nets trade.
Around the 18-minute point of the interview, as seen above, Porter was asked how it feels to leave the Nuggets after building relationships with the other players, such as Jokić and Jamal Murray. "It was tough saying goodbye," he said. "You know, they just all kind of texted in the group chat. The only thing Nikola said was, 'Wrap it up out there.' He said, 'Make sure you wear condoms out there. ... That was his message, that was his goodbye to me."
He said that while it was "tough," he accepted that it was an aspect of being in the NBA that everyone has to deal with at some point or another. He also said that he plans to keep in contact with everyone, because he considers them "family."
The comment from Jokić is par for the course. He's earned a reputation for his dry sense of humor, which often comes out during his interviews with reporters. Earlier this year, he spoke about his plans after the Nuggets lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7. At the time, he said that he was still undecided on whether he would participate in a European championship during the off-season, and added, "But for now, the next couple of days is gonna be a lot of beer, probably."
Before the start of his first season with the Brooklyn Nets, Porter has made a number of appearances on high-profile podcasts. Earlier this month, for instance, he appeared on an episode of the One Night with Steiny podcast and said that he believes sports gambling can affect the "integrity of the game." During the same episode, he also spoke about dating and said that he'll "play Devil's advocate" and show Andrew Tate clips to women.
