After releasing a Gel-Nimbus 10.1 collab last year that was limited to only 250 pairs, Stefon Diggs and Asics are back with a more obtainable sneaker project.
Diggs' new Asics Gel-DS Trainer 14 features a very minimalistic design and according to the brand, this collab references his childhood when he would receive one pair of shoes to last the entire school year. It features a white mesh upper offset by black accents on the side panels, combined with a red collar and a sail-colored midsole. The tongue also features the text "These are your play shoes," as a nod to the aforementioned story of having one pair of shoes for the entire school year.
"This project is bigger than a shoe… It’s my story," Diggs said. "My mom has always been the voice in my head keeping me grounded and you see that in the details, right down to her handwriting on the tongue: ‘These are your play shoes.’ ASICS trusted me to lead the creative, and we built something that feels like home—clean, sharp, and full of little nods to my childhood. Seeing the design and the campaign come to life is a thank-you to her and to everyone who helped shape me. I’m grateful to ASICS for believing in my vision and building this with me."
Readers will be able to cop Diggs' Asics Gel-DS Trainer 14 this Saturday, Oct. 11, at Complex for $160.
