As expected, Jordan Brand will soon unveil Michael Jordan's next signature shoe, the Air Jordan 40.
A newly leaked image from @carterwangchina on Instagram shows a first look at what's believed to be the Jordan 40, but there's nothing from the photo that indicates it to be Jordan's next signature model. The previously unseen sneaker features a two-tone upper, with a black neoprene interior paired with a grey nubuck mudguard. Aside from the ZoomX cushioning seen at the forefoot of the midsole, the rest of the cushioning system for the sole has yet to be confirmed.
Despite an early look at the purported Air Jordan 40, release details for the model have not yet been announced by Jordan Brand. Check back soon for updates and an official unveil of the sneaker in the coming weeks.
UPDATE (06/24): We're only a few days removed from the Air Jordan 40 first surfacing online, and now Jordan Brand has officially unveiled Jordan's latest signature shoe.
The brand confirms that it has borrowed design elements from previous Air Jordans on this shoe, including the heel from the Jordan 3, the tongue inspired by the Jordan 5, reflective accents from the Jordan 13, the bone line from the Jordan 14, the iridescent window from the Jordan 18, and more. The Jordan 40 will also be the first sneaker to combine full-length Nike ZoomX foam with a full Zoom Strobel unit in the midsole for maximum cushioning.
The Air Jordan 40 will release in "The Classic" colorway on July 12 at Jordan.com and at select retailers for $200. Additional styles, including the "Blue Suede" and "Dusty Rose" makeups, will arrive on Aug. 20 and Sept. 20, respectively.
