Blackstock & Weber’s founder Chris Echevarria is selling his vintage Porsche to aid in fire relief efforts in Los Angeles.
Echevarria has announced that he’s auctioning off his 1986 Porsche 944 that was previously featured in the Blackstock & Weber “The Shore” lookbook.
A portion of the proceeds from the vehicle’s sale are set to be donated to aid Los Angeles residents and businesses in the wake of the wildfires. The auction will end on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 10:30 PM.
In a statement, Echevarria revealed his reason for getting involved in recovery efforts in Los Angeles, explaining that he was “warmly embraced by the community” when he spent a year living there. Additionally, a lot of the homes that he had dinner in were destroyed in the fires.
The massive fires that have engulfed parts of Los Angeles have been burning for the last two weeks. The largest one is in the Palisades where it covers 23,700 acres. It’s currently 43% contained. In the days since the wildfires began back on Jan. 7, over 12,000 homes, buildings and structures have been destroyed. More than 25 people have also been killed.
To help with the wildfire relief, there will be a concert held on Jan. 30 at the Intuit Dome, backed up The Forum, Live Nation, AEG, and the Azoff Company. This star-studded concert, called FireAid, will feature Billie Eilish and Finneas, Earth, Wind & Fire, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Gwen Stefani, Jelly Roll, Joni Mitchell, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Baby, Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rod Stewart, Sting, Stephen Stills, Stevie Nicks, Tate McRae, Dave Matthews, and John Mayer.
Proceeds from the concert will go to benefit the LA communities impacted by the fire. They’ll support the rebuilding of infrastructure, helping displaced families, and advancing fire prevention technologies and strategies that can be used in the future.
