Vin Diesel Offers The Rock a Quick 'Hey Dwayne' During Golden Globes

Years of alleged candy-assery have led to this.

For those with a scholarly level of understanding surrounding certain instances of alleged candy-assery, Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony provided a quick but noteworthy moment between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.

Diesel took the stage during the Nikki Glaser-hosted awards show to announce Wicked as the winner in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. But before digging into this year’s nominees, Diesel spotted The Rock in the Beverly Hilton crowd, prompting him to tuck in a greeting to his fellow Fast & Furious franchise alum.

“Hey, Dwayne,” Diesel offered, as seen below, spurring laughter from the audience and a wide smile from Johnson.

Much has been said, and even more has been written, about Diesel and Johnson’s prior alleged issues. Fast X fans were surprised in 2023 by Johnson’s return cameo as Hobbs, which is expected to lead to him again returning for the upcoming eleventh main franchise entry.

Back in November, Diesel, who’s also a producer on the Fast films, shared a photo of himself alongside Johnson to Instagram, telling fans that he wants to “get back to real street racing, practical stunts, and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood.” In the same update, he teased a possible March 2026 release window for the next entry.

During a Globes red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight on Sunday, Johnson was asked about the possible 2026 rollout. While Johnson didn’t get specific, he did offer a promising update, saying, “I think that’s the plan. … We’ll see.”

Among the projects next on Johnson’s slate is The Smashing Machine, a Mark Kerr biopic written and directed by Benny Safdie. Diesel, meanwhile, is set to again reprise the titular character in The Chronicles of Riddick franchise with the upcoming Riddick: Furya from director David Twohy.
