Power actress Alix Lapri was arrested in Georgia this month on charges including cruelty to children in the third degree and disorderly conduct.

According to jail records viewed by Complex, the arrest took place at the hands of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 18. The date of the alleged offense is listed as Aug. 10. All told, Lapri, known for her role as Effie Morales in the Power franchise, spent roughly a day in jail before being released.

To be clear, despite the wording of the cruelty to children in the third degree charge, what it actually encompasses is a bit more nuanced than what might be assumed. In short, a person can face such a charge if they “intentionally” allow a child (i.e. anyone under 18) to “witness the commission of a forcible felony, battery, or family violence battery.”

Lapri does not appear to have directly addressed the arrest or the ensuing news news coverage on social media. Complex has reached out to Lapri's reps for comment, as well as to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office. This story may be updated.

Lapri, born Alexus Geier, also appeared alongside 50 Cent and Gerard Butler in 2018’s Den of Thieves. Last year, she starred in Key Glock’s video for “Let’s Go,” directed by Chris Villa.

In an Instagram update shared Monday, Lapri shared behind-the-scenes photos of herself at work on a new project.

“Gotta keep at it buddy,” she captioned the update. “Chase the dream and know no fear.”
