Kim Kardashian says her and the artist formerly known as Kanye West’s eldest child together, 12-year-old North, once urged her to get a boyfriend after thinking her mother was upstairs crying.
This revelation came during Kim’s recent appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, where it was preceded by the SKIMS co-founder detailing what she considers the “hardest moments to stay silent” following her and Ye’s divorce.
As we already touched on in prior Call Her Daddy coverage today, Ye has made several public claims about the nature of his and Kim’s co-parenting relationship. Kim has denied such claims, namely any narrative positing that her ex-husband is not able to see his children.
“I don’t care what you say about me,” Kim told Alex in Wednesday’s episode. “I don’t care what you say about the world and your beliefs, any of that. Anything about my children, I don’t care what it is, that’s hard for me to sit back and be like, ‘Come on,’ you know? Even just sharing stuff about them . It is hard to sit back when he says things about my mom. That’s what’s really hard for me because she loves him, and to this day still does and is super emotional about it and sad about it. It was a big part of our lives.”
Still, Kim remains hopeful about one day having a co-parenting relationship with Ye that mirrors what she observed in her parents growing up. Per Kim, she also works to make sure she speaks positively about Ye to the children, regardless of her personal feelings.
“I mean, my kids, I say such positive things about their dad that North had to say to me, ‘Mom, I think you go upstairs and cry at night. It’s okay. It’s time to move on. You need to have a boyfriend now,’” Kim recalled. “And I’m like, wait, what? What? I cry? No, I’m getting a massage upstairs. What do you think is happening? And I was like, oh my god. I say such positive things all the time and I’m, like, in the car if they want to listen to music, like as hard as it is for me, I want them to think the best things.”
